Sunday is, by far, my favorite day of the week. It’s my cheat day in regards to what I eat. It’s the day I don’t schedule myself any work (usually). And now, I get to share the things I love with you!
Because this is a new blog category that will be coming once a month, I’ll clarify that my plan is to cover books, movies/tv, and music. Occasionally, a new topic might pop in, but these will be my regs.
Alright – lets get this show on the road!
Books to Read

I really enjoyed our book club read: The Woman in the Window. I don’t normally read thrillers. I don’t normally read much outside of romance in general. But this was really good. It lulled a little bit about 100 pages in, and I struggled to see where it was going. And of course, there were a few pieces that were a little predictable. But, overall, I’m really glad I stuck with it. Because wow did it really grip me in the chest. My husband went to bed and I stayed up until past midnight because I needed to finish it.. I won’t be trying that again. Apparently, I’m a wuss.
The book follows a woman who lives alone with severe agoraphobia, takes a lot of medications, and drinks as well. When new neighbors move in across a small park, she believed she observes something that the family and police claim never happened. I highly recommend checking it out! And apparently it is in the works to become a movie staring Amy Adams. So. Get on it.
Shows to Watch

Alright, so I realize I might just be jumping on the bandwagon here, but my husband and I are watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and wow is it fantastic! It prompted me to get rid of 40% of my clothing, and (don’t tell hubby, but!) the kitchen is next. My only argument against this show is simply that it doesn’t address what the original problem is in American culture. Consumerism. We hoard and buy, buy, buy, and this show encourages purging without identifying the core issue and trying to address it. BUT! It is really fun to watch. #SparkJoy
Music to Jam
I’ve been walking a lot and listening to indie artists recently, and I’ve come across a few new signer/songwriters that I love! Angus & Julia Stone (song: Nothing Else) and Peter Oren (song: Falling Water) are two of my go-to favs right now. Both have these haunting qualities that make you feel like you’ve been dragged into another era. I’m also enjoying First Aid Kit (song: To Live a Life). I guess they would be classified as folk artists, but they remind me a bit of Ingrid Michaelson without the pop influence.
My Lazy Sunday
Today, my husband and I are going to be eating salami, cheese and bread (it is our cheat day from our healthy diets) and trying to find a new TV show that we want to watch. Let me know if you have any recommendations. We’ve been hearing great things about Outlander.
I think that’s a wrap from me! But I’m always looking for new things to read, watch and listen to. Help me out, and drop a fav in the comments.
